Kristin is a Solicitor Apprentice based in our Margate Office. She joined GT Stewart in 2022 having previously worked at another Legal 500 recognised firm. Kristin completed her Level 3 Diploma with the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives in March 2020.

Kristin is recognised as a Recommended Lawyer within the 2025 and 2026 Legal 500 UK Publication. She also won the Kent Law Society’s Junior Lawyer of the Year 2024 Award.

With over 12 years’ experience in Public (Care) & Private Law (Contact & Residence) Children Act proceedings, Kristin can assist parents at all stages including pre-proceedings meetings, care proceedings, adoption, contact with children in care, discharge of Care Orders, Special Guardianship Orders, Child Arrangement Orders (residence and contact). Kristin also has experience in supporting alternative carers (family members or friends) who have been positively assessed to care for children that may not be able to remain with their parents, as well as those who may wish to challenge any negative assessment.

Kristin regularly assists vulnerable clients, those with learning difficulties and foreign nationals. She is experienced in cases where the Official Solicitor is involved and is adept at explaining the proceedings in a friendly and straightforward way. Kristin often works with survivors of domestic abuse both in seeking protective orders and in ongoing contact/residence disputes. Kristin attends the Rising Sun Domestic Abuse drop-ins in Canterbury and Herne Bay to support survivors of domestic abuse in accessing legal advice. She also assists with the Kent Law Clinic’s pro-bono legal service providing advice to those unable to afford access to the same.

Court proceedings can be an intimidating and stressful process, but Kristin strives to be sensitive and approachable to those she works with.

Kristin supports clients that include:

  • Survivors of domestic abuse
  • Parents and other family members facing the most serious of allegations that a family court can deal with;
  • Foreign nationals from across the world where English has not been their first language;
  • Neurodivergent clients;
  • Vulnerable adults and those with learning difficulties and learning disabilities;
  • Parents that are incarcerated;
  • Vulnerable adults where the Official Solicitor has become involved;

Kristin deals with cases that include:

  • Public Law Family Proceedings: 
    • Care Proceedings
    • Emergency Protection Orders
  • Complex Child Protection Proceedings including: 
    • Non-accidental injuries (NAI) including head injuries (NAHI), fractures and bruising;
    • Sexual abuse;
    • Cases where there are concurrent criminal proceedings;
  • Special Guardianship Order Applications;
  • Placement Order and Adoption Order Applications;
  • Secure Accommodation Applications;
  • Deprivation of Liberty Applications;
  • Recovery Order Applications.
  • Cases where parents are involved with Social Services (Pre-Proceedings Meetings, Child Protection and Child In Need);
  • Private Law Children Work (Contact and Residence disputes, Prohibitive Steps and Specific Issue applications);
  • Injunctions (under the Family Law Act and Harassment Act);
